Dear Dancers, Parents and Friends:
The Dance Championships is excited to announce creation a new scholarship opportunity and charity fundraiser that will be giving away one dance scholarship to "The PULSE on Tour."
The PULSE on Tour is a dynamic and unique weekend dance event, featuring the top choreographers and instructors within the dance industry. Their faculty can be seen on reality television shows (such as So You Think You Can Dance), directing the hottest music videos and tours for leading recording artists, as well as producing and choreographing for headlining movies, commercials, Broadway productions and distinguished dance companies. The PULSE on Tour aims to educate and teach dancers using a tremendous faculty in a non-competitive environment.
Dancers Give Back (DGB), a local charity organization, was founded in the fall of 2008. DGB supporters have combined their passion for, and excellence in, the art of dance to help raise money for cancer research. Their first annual fundraiser was a huge success and attended by over 15 local dance studios. Currently, there are more than 30 local dance studios and dance-affiliated businesses associated with DGB.
In recognition of the quality and value these two entities bring to the dance community, The Dance Championships first contacted The PULSE on Tour about assisting us in this new partnership opportunity. They agreed and we are most humbled by their generosity. Next we contacted DGB and explained our proposal. DGB is most grateful and excited about the potential success of this effort.
How will the convention scholarship be awarded? Each dancer entered into the competition will receive a free entry into the raffle. During the event weekend, additional tickets will be sold. All proceeds will be donated through DGB to cancer research. A raffle will be conducted at the final awards ceremony on Sunday and the convention scholarship will be awarded at that time. Since many of our competitors enter from out-of-town, attendance at the final raffle is not mandatory.
